Report claims Galaxy Gear reveal occurring on same day as Galaxy Note 3 launches

Samsung is going to launch its long-rumored smartwatch at its Unpacked 2013 Episode 2 event on September 4th, according to a report. The smartwatch, named the Samsung Galaxy Gear according to recent trademark filings, could end up sharing the company stage at the IFA event in Germany with the expected Galaxy Note 3.

Sources of SamMobile claim to have confirmed the launch, with the Galaxy Gear set to have a model number of SM-V700, and will be marketed as an accessory to the Samsung Galaxy range of smartphones. Though no new details regarding specifications of the smartwatch were provided, it is suggested that it could have a flexible display.

An earlier render of the device, based on a filed design patent shows it as having a fairly large, curved display, while earlier screenshots said to depict the smartwatch user interface touted possible cellular connectivity, a 500x500 resolution, and an internal storage of 235MB. Despite these leaks, the final form of the device won't be known until just before the event or the event itself.
