Google lends Trekker backpack to UK rivers group

Google will be lending its 4-foot, 40-pound Google Trekker backpack to the Canal & River Trust to document waterways in the United Kingdom. The first to borrow the equipment in the UK, the group aims to spend one month capturing over 100 miles of rivers and canals using the Street View technology, which will later be added to the main Street View archive on Google Maps.

Microsoft shuttering Games for Windows Live marketplace on August 22nd

Microsoft is closing its Games for Windows Live marketplace on Thursday. The Xbox.com support site states that, while new purchases will not be possible after August 22nd, Games for Windows Live will continue to operate, along with its client, though Microsoft does recommend using any remaining Microsoft Points on the account before its closure.
