Skip attaches to clothing for Moto X use without pin unlocks
Motorola has revealed its NFC key for the Moto X smartphone for automatic unlocking. The Skip, a bundle consisting of a thumb-sized clip and three Skip dot stickers, will allow the wearer to use the Moto X when it is nearby the device, without requiring the owner to enter a four digit pin or some other authentication in order to unlock the phone.
The clip, worn on a sleeve or a belt, initially pairs with the Moto X, and will keep the phone unlocked while it is within range. Outside this range, it can be unlocked by more conventional means. The Motorola blog states that Skip dots can be stuck to specific locations to set "trusted zones" where the phone can remain unlocked while in the area.
The Skip will be included with all Moto X orders going through the Moto Maker customization system as a free bonus for a limited period, but can also be bought separately for $20.
