LG set to roll out G Pad 8.3 in Q4

LG has made its G Pad 8.3 official. The new tablet features a 1920x1200 WUXGA (better than 1080p resolution) IPS LCD display packed into an 8.3-inch display giving it a pixel density of 273 pixels per inch. The company says that the design and features of the new tablet are based on extensive research that it has undertaken with its customers about what they are looking for in a tablet.

It is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor (not the Snapdragon 800 as in the new LG G2) clocked at 1.7GHz and is paired with 2GB of RAM. On board storage is 16GB and is not expandable, although it is possible that LG may release variants with more storage in the future. Cameras include a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The G Pad is 0.32-inches thick and weighs in at 338 grams, while it also incorporates a 4,600mAh battery.

Software additions by LG on top of the G Pad's Android basis is extensive and have been designed to make better use of the G Pad's larger display. Among these is LG's Slide Aside, which enables multitasking by sliding between currently open apps with a three-finger swipe, while QSlide allows up to three different apps to run simultaneously. The G Pad will be available in either white or black options and will ship globally in Q4 with pricing to be announced.
