Xbox One launch between PlayStation 4 launch dates in US versus UK
Microsoft today announced that the next iteration of the Xbox console, the Xbox One, will be available in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK, and the US on November 22. While the list of launch countries has been pared somewhat from what was originally announced, the company notes that "many more markets will follow in 2014."
November's launch was noted by Microsoft's head of Xbox marketing in a blog post. The new console boasts 8GB of DDR3 with 32MB of eSRAM embedded, an eight-core AMD CPU running at 1.75GHz, a 500GB hard drive with support for external storage being added at a later date, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, HDMI input and output, plus the Kinect 2 peripheral included. The console is available for pre-order for $499.
It will be competing head-to-head with the PlayStation 4, launching on November 15 in the US and November 29 in the UK. Nintendo's offering, the Wii U, will have been available for nearly a year when the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are available at retail.
