New features aimed at restaurants
PayPal has redesigned its mobile apps for iOS and Android, adding options for paying at local businesses and placing orders ahead of time. A new 'Shop' tab helps users find which local retailers and eateries support PayPal payments, with options for checking in and opening a tab directly from the app interface.
Over a thousand Eat24 locations support a deeper level of integration, providing full menus and the ability to order ahead directly from the app. Customers can then pick up their food order when it is ready, without having to call in the order or wait in line.
When dining in a restaurant, the app also enables users to view their bill, make a payment and leave a tip without flagging down the server. Certain locations even provide an easy way to request another drink.
PayPal is also promoting its own "Bill Me Later" credit service, integrating the application process and local promotions into the mobile experience. Users can also access coupons for a retailer and save the offer to their wallet to be redeemed automatically at checkout.
The new apps are available from the Android Market and App Store.
