Alienware adds latest Core i7 processors to Aurora gaming system

New models offer up tp six cores running at 4.2GHz.

Dell subsidiary Alienware announced today that its flagship gaming desktop, the Alienware Aurora, has been refreshed with the latest high-performance processors and graphics. The Aurora is now available with the latest Intel Core i7 processors, with up to six cores and 15MB of cache.

The new options are part of Intel's new IvyBridge-E 4000-series family of processors announced at the Intel Developer Forum 2013 in San Francisco. Additionally, Aurora is now available with the latest Nvidia GeForce 700-series graphics and AMD 8900-series graphics options. Support for quad-channel DDR3 memory has been added to the line as well.

The "entry level" liquid-cooled Alienware Auroroa with the Intel Core i7-4820k quad-core processor, Windows 7 Home Premium, 8GB of Quad-Channel DDR3, a 2TB 7200 RPM hard drive, and a DVD-RW drive starts at $1,399 and ranges to $2,548.
