Control Zone trackpad geared for Windows 8

HP has introduced several new consumer devices, including the Spectre 13 x2 convertible, a new Envy 17 notebook and five tablets under the Slate and Omni brands. The new Spectre notebook is powered by Intel's Haswell processors, integrated behind the display for fanless operation in standard notebook mode or as a tablet when the keyboard base is detached.

The Envy 17 represents the largest of HP's consumer notebooks, featuring a 17.3-inch display with 1920x1080 resolution and optional Nvidia discrete graphics. The company has added a Leap Motion sensor alongside the trackpad for navigation and input via hand gestures in the air above the keyboard.

The HP tablet lineup now includes three screen sizes, ranging from seven to 10 inches. The seven-inch Slate 7 Extreme is powered by Nvidia's Tegra SoC, while the Slate 8 Pro features an eight-inch display and integrated Beats audio. The company also offers 10-inch Android tablets, including the Omni 10 and Slate 10 HD.

The company has also teamed with Intel to offer a Bay Trail tablet, the Slate 10, which provides the full Windows 8.1 experience in a 10-inch tablet.

HP is expected to begin shipping some of its new products as early as October.
