Suit claims that casual sex app maker violated Zynga 'with friends' trademark
Embattled game producer Zynga has settled a lawsuit with the developer of a casual sex matchmaking app called "Bang With Friends." The suit alleged that the app infringed Zynga's trademark on its "With Friends" series of games, such as Words With Friends, Matching With Friends, and Chess With Friends.
Zynga believed that Bang With Friends Limited was willful in its violation of its trademark, saying that the company "selected the name 'Bang With Friends' for its casual sex matchmaking app with Zynga's game trademarks fully in mind." In doing so, Zynga argued that the use of the term was infringing.
Regarding the suit, Bang With Friends said that "although the terms of the settlement are confidential, Bang With Friends acknowledges the trademark rights that Zynga has in its 'With Friends' marks, and will be changing its corporate name and rebranding its services in the near future."
