updated 05:16 pm EDT, Tue October 1, 2013

Pair of speakers can be put in stereo or mirror mode

Today, audio accessory maker Ultimate Ears introduced a major upgrade to the Logitech UE Mobile Boombox with UE Mini Boom. The new speaker is a Bluetooth streamer, with a claimed range of up to 50 feet, and the ability to pair multiple devices together for simultaneous listening through the UE Mini Boom app for iOS and Android.

The new UE Mini Boom boasts a battery of up to 10 hours, and is NFC-enabled to connect with appropriately-equipped devices. When two of the speakers are paired, they can either be put in stereo mode for wide separation, or in "double mode" for both speakers to play in sync. When a single unit is paired to a smartphone with Bluetooth, it can be used as a speakerphone.

The UE Mini Boom is expected to be available in the US this month in a variety of colors for a suggested retail price of $100.
