Google finalizing Google Music app for iOS?

updated 12:06 pm EDT, Thu October 3, 2013

Launch expected later this month

Google is reportedly preparing to launch a native iOS app for its Google Music service, unnamed sources have told Engadget. iPhone and iPad users are currently forced to listen via a web-based app, however a native player would presumable enable offline playback and other features.

The search giant's music service provides access to a wide range of content from major music labels and smaller players. Users can buy individual tracks and albums, or listen to on-demand content for $10/month. The service essentially competes with Slacker, Spotify and iTunes Radio, among others.

Google initially hinted that an iOS app would be launched in June, however the latest sources suggest the company is working out the final bugs ahead of a release later this month.

Can't wait. Have been using it on Android and it's great! Beats Apple's iTunes Radio simply because it offers offline album downloads. So disappointed that Apple has adopted a Pandora-like model.
