More uniform cross-platform interface, offers iOS, Android security

Webroot has launched the latest versions of its SecureAnywhere range of home computer security suites. The new Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus, Internet Security Plus, and Internet Security Complete adds new detection technology for protecting against new malware and phishing attacks, along with a redesigned interface for easier monitoring.

Using the cloud-based Webroot Intelligence Network cloud security service, Webroot Infrared checks new, unknown files by monitoring its behavior and checking its origin before allowing it to be used. The new real-time anti-phishing protection is able to analyze a website when the user visits it, blocking potentially harmful sites automatically.

Cross-platform security is also catered for in the software, with multi-platform protection offered on a single license for PC, Mac, with optional security for Android and iOS devices. Mac users will gain extra features in the form of a System Analyzer and Backup & Sync, with a consistent interface between both Mac and PC. Android devices also have extra security in the form of the software automatically scanning apps and downloads for threats, the remote locking of a lost phone, and remote wiping of data.

The base Webroot SecureAnywhere suite is available now, with the base SecureAnywhere Antivirus product starting from $40. SecureAnywhere Internet Security Plus, which adds password management and mobile device protection, costs $60 for one year for three devices. The full SecureAnywhere Internet Security Complete, adding permanent file deletion, online activity wiping, and 25GB of backups to online storage on top of Internet Security Plus, costs $80 to cover five devices for one year.
