Streams 108 channels at home, 25 when out of the house
AT&T has brought more viewing options to its U-verse mobile app collection, by adding Internet streaming of live television channels. Viewers will be able to watch a range of live programming from subscribed-to channels through the iOS and Android apps, alongside the existing remote control, DVR-scheduling, and video on-demand services.
While the live TV streaming brings it in line with other broadcasters, it is not for the entirety of the U-verse channel line-up. While on the home Wi-Fi network, the app will allow for streaming of up to 108 channels, according to Engadget, though this reduces down to approximately 25 channels when elsewhere, with AT&T advising that this is down to rights issues with networks.
The updated app for the iPad went live late last month, with the U-verse website gaining the service at the end of last week. A new version for the iPhone will come out on the 16th of this month, while Android users will need to wait until the 21st.
AT&T's existing live TV streaming service, dubbed Mobile TV, will continue to operate.
