Windows Phone 8, Nokia firmware adds new camera app, FM radio
AT&T will be rolling out updates to some Windows Phone 8 devices used on its network later today, according to a post on the carrier's forum. The General Distribution Release 2 (GDR2) update for Windows Phone 8, along with the Amber firmware for the Nokia Lumia 820 and Lumia 920, will start to appear as a notification on subscriber devices later today, with the updates downloadable over a Wi-Fi connection.
The posting by a community manager spotted by WPCentral states that the carrier has completed its testing of both GDR2 and the Amber firmware on the two devices. While Nokia initially released the Amber update in August, it has taken almost two months for AT&T to approve it for its network.
The combined GDR2 and Amber update adds the Smart Camera app, improved image processing, the Nokia Pro Camera for the Lumia 920, the Nokia Glance Screen, data usage monitoring through Data Sense, an FM radio app, and changes to Xbox Music and Internet Exporer.
