Microsoft brings Remote Desktop app to iOS

updated 02:29 pm EDT, Thu October 17, 2013

Supports Windows 8 multi-touch gestures

Microsoft has released a promised iOS version of its Remote Desktop app. The title lets people connect to a remote Windows PC, and gain access to both its data and apps through a secure connection. Microsoft is promising support for the multi-touch gestures in Windows 8, and high-quality audio and video through optimized compression and bandwidth. For presentations, the app can help push content to external monitors or projectors.

Remote Desktop apps were announced for iOS and OS X last week. New versions are also in the works for Android, Windows, and Windows RT. The iOS app is a free download, and works on any device running iOS 6 or later.
