Nokia Guru image leak shows iPod Shuffle-sized music player

Square music player from Nokia includes NFC connectivity

A portable music player could be on the way from Nokia, according to a new leaked image. The Nokia Guru is a small and square device that appears to take its cue from the iPod Shuffle, albeit with seemingly fewer controls, and could possibly be revealed by the company as part of its major product launch event tomorrow.

It is not clear if the Lumia-colored device, the image for which appearing on the @evleaks Twitter account, will be a pure music player or will serve some other function. The NFC connectivity certainly suggests some form of communication with a smartphone, though this could just be for the initial pairing with later transfers over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. It does appear to have basic playback and volume controls, a microUSB port and matching headphones, but it is not clear if it will be a standalone music player in its own right, or if it will act just as a Bluetooth headset.

The event tomorrow is said to consist of five or six items, and while the Lumia 1520, Lumia 1320, and some form of tablet are all believed to make an appearance, it is possible that an accessory such as the Nokia Guru could have a separate and later launch.
