Live streaming of Apple event confirmed on Apple TV

[Update: Streaming to iOS devices confirmed] Apple will be streaming its press event to the general public later today. A new item has appeared on Apple TV set-top boxes labeled "Apple Special Event - October 2013," within the "Apple Events" channel, with iPad, iPhone, and Mac owners also able to watch the event live at the same time.

The new channel reads "Watch the special event held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, CA." according to an image from Ben Dodson, with the event itself beginning from 10am Pacific time. The same streaming will be offered to owners of other devices, with the Apple Events page advising that live streaming video requires Safari 4 or later on OS X v10.6 or later, or Safari on iOS 4.2 or later.

Products expected to make an appearance at the event include updated MacBook Pros, the redesigned Mac Pro, a possible new generation of the 9.7-inch iPad, and also a new Retina iPad Mini.
