Samsung smartwatch apparently not going over well

Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch may have a return rate as high as 30 percent at Best Buy, according to a leaked internal document from the popular electronics retailer. acquired the document, which solicits opinions from on-site Samsung staff as to why customers may be returning the device. The document also gives exact dates for when Gear compatibility will expand to other Samsung devices.

"The Galaxy Gear attachment rate within Best Buy is the highest among all channels," the document reads, "however the overall return rate is trending above 30%."

The memo is directed at Samsung employees working in the company's Samsung Experience Stores, micro-stores that are located within Best Buy outlets. Reportedly, it goes on to ask employees to give their thoughts on why customers are returning the smartwatch.

Additionally, the document gives solid dates for when Samsung's Note II, S III, S4, and S4 Active smartphones will be receiving the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update that will render them compatible with the Galaxy Gear. This update will begin rolling out to some customers on October 28, and it will continue until December 2, with owners of different devices getting the update depending on which carrier they are subscribed to.

Samsung has been pushing the Gear as the perfect complement to its line of high-end smartphones, but the device met with a generally poor reception from tech commentators. While the tech giant is still pushing the Gear, it is also said to be hard at work on a successor.

Oh I don't know maybe because it is a bulky brick of a device that only currently works with 2 of the galaxy devices, and one of the most poorly designed devices anyone has ever seen, rushed to market to say "see we were first" only there not. I would rather have a pebble watch. And what is with the fugly screws on the face of the device? Really!

30% seems low, but that's probably just because so few people are buying it in the first place that the couple who do tend to know what they're getting into.
