Apple's Jony Ive customizes Mac Pro for (Product)RED charity auction

updated 08:15 pm EDT, Fri October 25, 2013

Unreleased computer expected to generate between $40,000 and $60,000

Apple lead designer Jony Ive and colleague Narc Newson have customized an as-yet unreleased Mac Pro for the (Product)RED charity effort. Auctioneer Sotheby's expects the one-off product to sell for between $40,000 and $60,000 with nearly all the proceeds destined for the charity.

The pictures at the Sotheby's auction site appear to be composites, and not of the actual product for auction, but the legitimacy of the product has been confirmed. Apple has been a long-time partner of the AIDS charity and has produced many other products for it in the past.
