Most Apple stores expecting additional shipments on Saturday, Sunday
Reports are surfacing that despite what is expected to be low stock at retail of Apple's new iPad Air, some Apple stores have been given directions by Cupertino to retain a small amount of iPads for "Personal Pickup" service. The quantity reserved for the online ordering process will vary per store and market size, and units of each model will be set aside for purchases before noon.
After noon, the reserved inventory will be used for Personal Pickup purchases, with any left over used for walk-in traffic later in the day on Friday. All four of the Apple retail stores polled by Electronista were expecting shipments of the device from Cupertino on Saturday, and some were even told to be prepared to receive a shipment of "hundreds" on Sunday at some point.
The four stores questioned weren't expecting any inventory problems on Friday. Should the weekend shipments be delayed for any reason, one store was expecting "a real problem" by noon on Saturday. A second queried store is expecting the 16GB Wi-Fi model to be completely sold out by the end of business on Friday.
