New Groupon update aimed at improving ease of shopping
Groupon on Friday announced a wave of new updates for not only its website, but also its iPhone, Android, and iOS apps. The new updates are meant to make it easier for Groupon customers to shop local deals, and they incorporate a number of enhancements aimed at making that possible. Among other changes, the update brings a range of new search, browse, merchandising, and location features.
The new Groupon website adds a personalized homepage, allowing users to view curated collections of deals based on prior interests. It also features enhancements to the search and browse functions, with a new bar displayed prominently along the top of each page. The update also brings cross-channel search results and better search filters.
The app updates bring a Local Explorer feature, in which the Groupon experience follows customers as they travel, suggesting deals they may be interested in no matter where they are. The user experience has also been updated to put the search bar at the top of each screen, and the iPad app now allows users to favorite deals in order to quickly refer back to them. The iPad app now also covers 12 additional markets: Austria, Chile, Colombia, French Canada, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Russia, and Thailand.
The new Groupon is available for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. The iOS app is available for free in the App Store. It is a 33.8MB app requiring a device running iOS 5.0 or later. The Android version is available inGoogle's Play Store. The size of the app varies depending on the device, but it requires an Android device running version 2.3.3 or higher.
