Ultra HD content appears on Netflix
Netflix recently expanded its content offerings to include Ultra HD video, GigaOm reported Friday. The new offerings are solely content that Netflix uses for internal testing, but their emergence online confirms that the company is looking to add 4K content to its offerings. The popular video streaming service reportedly hopes to roll out Ultra HD video streaming for customers with compatible devices some time in the next year.
Netflix added seven 4K videos to catalog last week, with El Fuente 24 MP being among them. That title, which shows footage of people on bicycles along with other imagery, demonstrates the look of 4K content at 24 frames per second.
Netlfix CEO Reed Hastings has already said that the company hopes to be a big supplier of 4K content. Hastings went on to say in the company's most recent quarterly earnings call that 2014 is the year that Netflix hopes to begin pushing 4K content.
