New camera streams video directly to Facebook, live

Looxcie on Monday announced the release of a new portable, web-connected camera, Looxcie 3. A follow-up to the Looxcie 2, the new Looxcie maintains the lightweight design of its predecessor, and it is capable of streaming video live to the Internet. It comes with free companion apps for both iOS and Android, allowing users to share live video with family and friends via Facebook.

The Looxcie 3's lens has a 100-degree field of view, and the camera is capable of recording HD video up to 720p in resolution. While recording, the Looxcie 3 can simultaneously stream video to the Internet, and the Looxcie app can forward video straight to a user's Facebook feed.

The Looxcie weighs about 1.3 ounces, and its battery gives up to two hours of activity. Users can capture still images while recording with the press of one button. It also has an Instant Clip feature for creating instant replays of whatever just happened. Internally, the Looxcie has expandable microSD storage supporting up to 64GB of space.

The Looxcie 3 is available at Amazon, Fry's Electronics, Looxcie.com, and other retailers. The camera starts at $100, but for $150, Looxcie adds a social pack with eight accessories: the rotating social clip, two color covers, two lanyards, universal stand with sticky pad, ball cap clip and tripod mount.
