Newest Amazon e-reader gets Goodreads compatibility
Amazon has added Goodreads compatibility to its Kindle Paperwhite e-reader device. The feature addition will allow Paperwhite owners to rate books and share quoted passages directly to the Goodreads community. Users will also be able to import both print and digital books bought from Amazon into their Goodreads accounts.
Confirmed in a post to the Goodreads blog, the extension of the function to the Paperwhite device comes just a day after Amazon added the same functionality to its Kindle Fire tablets.
Goodreads is available as an over-the-air free update that will be delivered automatically to new Kindle Paperwhite devices in the United States, Canada, and Australia. The feature will be rolling out to those devices over the next few weeks, but users can also download it directly from Amazon right now. The Goodreads team has no additional information on whether or not the feature will appear on other Kindle devices, but they note that Amazon has a history of rolling out such features to previous devices.
