Phased rollout of new Android hits Moto X
Moto X owners with Verizon as a carrier should see access to Android 4.4 KitKat starting today. Motorola announced today that Verizon would begin rolling out an Android 4.4 update in phases, and the notification should begin appearing on the devices of Moto X users. The new update comes just over two weeks after Motorola promised a rapid update cycle for its new flagship device.
Updating to KitKat will give users access to a range of new features. Among those will be an improved phone dialer that will search across users' contacts, social profiles, and maps as they enter information. It also packs a new Hangouts app that gathers texts, video calls, and other chats all into one app.
Other features include gallery improvements, allowing for built-in filters and the ability to annotate photos by drawing on them. The Google Keyboard now includes emojis, as well, and a number of other aspects have seen significant changes.
