Google adds Designed for Tablets section to Play Store

The Google Play Store has been updated to showcase apps "Designed for tablets," something Google announced it would do last month. Tablet users will see the tablet-aimed apps as the default view in Google Play, according to an Android Developers Google+ post, with apps that do not meet specific criteria to be "Designed for tablets" to be marked as "Designed for phones" instead.

Amazon Coins currency reaches UK, Kindle Fire owners given £4

Amazon has rolled out its virtual currency to the United Kingdom, with new Kindle Fire owners receiving £4 ($6.50) in their account as a bonus, reports Pocket-Lint. The virtual currency, which can be bought in bulk for a 10-percent discount, can be used to pay for apps or in-app purchases, and also provides a way for parents to provide children an allowance on the tablet without the usual credit card risks.
