Logitech Harmony Ultimate remote

As Black Friday spins wildly, we thought we would offer our readers something that might bring a little "harmony" and "control" back into their lives. The Logitech Harmony Ultimate is what we're talking about. You may not be able to cope with what happens out there in the retail frenzy, but you can take control of the electronics in your home with this amazing remote.

The Logitech Harmony Ultimate reimagines home control, providing one-touch access to turn on a TV or start a Blu-ray player, and it even works with Philips Hue lights to help set the mood. Included with the remote is the Harmony Hub RF receiver, which turns RF signals from the remote into IR and Bluetooth commands that various devices can understand. Users can control devices through cabinets and walls -- and with the optional Harmony Smartphone App, turn any phone into a personal universal remote.

Other features include a customizable swipe-and-tap color touch screen. This 2.4-inch screen lets you swipe and tap to change channels, adjust the volume, fast forward or rewind. A gentle vibration lets you know when the remote receives a command from the touch screen. The screen lights up when you tilt the remote, so its easier to see what you are doing, even in the dark. Each button can be programmed for long and short pauses, doubling the number of buttons that can be used. This remote retails for $350 at Logitech's online store.

Uuuugh... no thanks. I tried that remote for a few days and returned it. Whoever designed that layout and the gestures features apparently has never actually used a remote control before.

I'll give it a shot. I have an older logitech remote that was great at first but now is nearly useless.
