After technical difficulties, Motorola extends $349 Moto X promo

updated 12:40 pm EST, Wed December 4, 2013

Sale price available today and Monday

Following technical difficulties on Cyber Monday, Motorola has extended the holiday promotion for its Moto X handset. The company's flagship smartphone is available today and Monday for just $349, marking a $150 savings, with full customization options via the Moto Maker site, though today's stock appears to be sold out.

"I want to apologize to our customers and fans for the issues we experienced on our website with our Cyber Monday promotion," the company wrote yesterday in a blog post. "First, we misjudged the overwhelming consumer demand for Moto X, which was far greater than we expected. Second, our pre-sale site testing was not sufficiently extensive."

Motorola is also doubling the number of phones available for the promotion, including more stock available on Monday, and providing a further 30-percent discount on all accessories. After registering for a promo code at Motorola's website (between noon and midnight on the promo days) customers can then take up to a week to complete their customizations and finalize the Moto Maker order.

The Moto X integrates a 4.7-inch display with 1280x720 resolution, a dual-core Snapdragon processor, a 10-megapixel primary camera and 16GB or 32GB of storage. Buyers can choose from a variety of textures and colors for the battery cover, along with black or white display bezels, different anodized accent colors and a name or personalized message.
