Apple TV adds Sky Sports via Now TV in the UK

updated 02:18 pm EST, Tue December 17, 2013

Day passes available for limited viewing

UK satellite television broadcaster Sky has announced that Apple TV users in the UK can watch Sky Sports content. The Now TV app enables users to sign up for a day pass that provides access to six Sky Sports channels, including four standard channels, the Sky Sports News channel and another dedicated to Formula One racing.

"The Now TV Sky Sports Day Pass is perfect for sports fans with Apple TV who want the flexibility to choose which live events they want to watch from the comfort of their sofa," said Now TV director Gidon Katz, as quoted by The Telegraph.

Apple TV users throughout the world have already had access to a Sky News app, though the sports content appears to be currently limited to UK-based viewers. Apple last week added several other apps for US users, including ABC, Bloomberg, Crackle and Korean channel KorTV.

The Sky Sports Day Pass can be purchased for £9.99 and billed to iTunes, enabling all channels to be streamed for 24 hours.
