LG reveals Ultrawide, Real 4K monitor lineup for CES in January

updated 05:39 am EST, Tue December 17, 2013

Displays with 21:9 aspect ratio accompanied by higher-than-4K monitor

LG has detailed the range of monitors it will be showing off at CES in January, including a high-resolution model. A number of new additions to the company's Ultrawide monitor range will be on display, alongside a new ColorPrime model, and the company's first attempt at a monitor capable of showing a resolution greater than Ultra HD.

The 34-inch IPS Ultrawide UM95 monitor will have an aspect ratio of 21:9, just like releases from earlier this year, with 25-inch and 29-inch models also on the way. The extra width to the display allows it to have a resolution of 3,440x1,440. Capable of reproducing 99 percent of the sRGB color palette, the UM95 includes HDMI, DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt connections, and includes multitasking functions such as a four-screen split mode.

Though it lacks the width of the UltraWide screens, the 31MU95 31-inch Real 4K monitor is an IPS display that can display images at 4096x2160, higher than the 3840x2160 typically associated with Ultra HD. The new ColorPrime monitor being shown uses LG's True Color Pro calibration software to display 99 percent of the Adobe RGB color space, and also includes Thunderbolt 2 support.

LG did not provide details for release dates nor pricing for any of the new monitors, but will probably provide more information at CES itself.

Interesting how every Korean brand TV is accommodated with a female (to drive their sale?). You don't see that with an iPhone presentation.
