Nike fitness apps get customizable exercise routines, more

Nike on Saturday announced an update to its Nike Training Club apps for Anrdroid and iOS. The update will allow the app's 11 million users to better connect and coordinate their workouts, with new features like four-week programs, customizable content, and better integration with the Nike+ Running app and Nike FuelBand. It also includes access to workouts inspired by world-class athletes such as Maria Sharapova.

Reddit readies Reddit Gifts in profitability push

Popular social news site Reddit will roll out a big push on its electronic bazaar next year in an effort to become profitable. Reuters on Saturday reported that the "Front Page of the Internet" is pouring resources into Reddit Gifts, a service that sold more than 250,000 items over the holiday. Reddit takes 15 to 20 percent of the proceeds from every purchase on the service, and executives within the company believe that its Christmas sales alone could push Reddit's books firmly into the black.

Reddit Gifts, born in 2009, specializes in geek-oriented items, with a heavy emphasis on cats, bacon, and narwhals. Gifts are usually priced between $10 and $25.
