Rdio closes Vdio streaming rental service after six months of operation

Rdio has shut down its Vdio streaming service in the United States and the United Kingdom, just six months after its launch. The Vdio team advised that it discontinued the service because it was "not able to deliver the differentiated customer experience" it was aiming for, reports TechCrunch. Customers of the service, which offered per-item rentals and sales of TV shows and films to users instead of the all-you-can-eat subscription used by Netflix, will be receiving an Amazon gift card for their troubles.
