Clock app developer confirms acquisition by Google
Google has acquired Bitspin, a development company that built the Android alarm clock app Timely. This according to a post on the firm's homepage, which said that the Bitspin team is "thrilled to announce that Bitspin is joining Google, where we'll continue to do what we love: building great products that are delightful to use." Details on the acquisition are as yet unavailable, but Google has already changed the price of the Timely app to make it free.
Timely's design has netted the Bitspin team considerable praise from the tech commentator community, and the Android app currently has a rating just over 4 stars with roughly 39,000 reviews. It features a clean design aimed at simplifying the way users interact with their alarm clocks. Users swipe from one edge of the screen in order to set a desired alarm time, or they can tap above or below a time bar in order to make adjustments in five-minute increments.
The app is currently available as a free download in the Google Play Store. The 9.6MB download requires a device running Android 4.0.3 or higher.
