Company claims one false access error in 2.25 trillion tries
Conglomerate Voxx Electronics and iris-based identity authentication solutions provider EyeLock, today announced a strategic partnership to deliver the myris, a USB-enabled iris authenticator that offers a convenient and secure way to verify digital identity. Myris works by converting an individual's iris patterns to a code unique to that person, then matches that code to your eyes to grant access to the devices and digital platforms.
Myris uses EyeLock's existing video-based iris authentication technology, providing user security and accurate identification of potential users. The device plugs into any USB-compatible device, and provides security for up to five users in seconds, according to the company. Myris is compatible with Windows 7 and 8, OS X and Chrome OS.
The company claims that the error rate is one in 2.25 trillion. Communication across USB is AES 256-encrypted, with authentication happening on the device, so no personal information is transmitted anywhere. Pricing on the device is not available. Customers interested in the technology can sign up on a wait list to be informed of future availability.
