Liquid Image brings out Ego LS cam with LTE streaming add-on

updated 08:26 pm EST, Tue January 7, 2014

Liquid Image Ego LS is the first action cam capable of streaming over 4G

Liquid Image used its CES spotlight to announce the Ego LS sports camera with 4G LTE connectivity. Electronista had a chance to check out the device, which will use the Verizon Wireless network to stream or upload its feed to the web. It can double as a security camera as well, thanks to its motion sensor. It's not possible to stream at the camera's full, 1080p resolution over the LTE network, however, as users are limited to just 800x480 videos. Other options for recording to the microSDHC/microSDXC memory card include 1080p at 30fps and 720p at 60fps.

There is an eight-megapixel sensor onboard, and streaming requires the additional accessory that will double the cost of the standalone camera (together, the units cost $400) when they arrive in June.

The battery is said to last six hours while connected to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and recording. While streaming over LTE, it is said to drop to just two hours.
