55-inch Ultra HD television shipping in Australia by late January

Australian hardware producer Kogan has used CES to launch two devices destined for sale in Australia. The company's first 55-inch Ultra HD television will be going on sale for $999 AUD ($900), and is accompanied on the show floor by the Agora HD Mini 3G tablet, an Android 4.2.2 device with a 7.85-inch, 1,024x768-resolution display.

Offering a resolution of 3840x2160, the Kogan 55-inch UHDTV can scale HD content to 4K-resolution, much like other Ultra HD televisions launched at the event. While it offers a USB 3.0 and three USB 2.0 ports, a microSD card reader, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet connectivity, it notably uses Android 4.2 to power its smart TV capabilities, something which can be expanded via apps in Google Play. Kogan will start shipping the Ultra HD television in Australia in late January, though there is apparently a chance it could be made available in other markets in the future.

Similar in style to the Agora 50 phablet, the Agora HD Mini 3G runs off a quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, expandable by up to 32GB via microSD. Powered by a 4,500mAh battery, it offers a rear-mounted 8-megapixel camera with a front-facing 5-megapixel counterpart, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and offers connectivity over HSPA+. Shipping on March 6th in Australia, the Agora HD Mini 3G tablet is priced at $199 AUD ($180).
