Tesco claims 400,000 Hudl sales since September launch

British retailer Tesco has revealed it has sold approximately 400,000 of its Hudl tablets in the United Kingdom. The increase means that Tesco managed to sell around 100,000 of the Android tablets in the holiday sales, having already reported 300,000 sales at the start of December and 35,000 a few days after its launch. The company plans to release an upgraded version later this year.

BBC expands reach of 'Connected Red Button' to smart TVs

UK broadcaster BBC has revealed it will be expanding its 'Connected Red Button' offering, a service providing alternative text and image-based content or extra video streams for special events, as well as access to the iPlayer, to smart TVs. Previously available on the Virgin TiVo set-top box, it is now available to use on a number of Samsung and Sony smart TVs, with LG televisions set to receive it later this year, though according to Engadget, owners of other set-top boxes could also see the update too.
