Rumor: Samsung working on Windows Phone device with 1080p display

updated 07:59 am EST, Wed January 15, 2014

Leaked user agent profile shows resolution, Internet Explorer usage

Samsung could be creating a large-screened smartphone running Windows Phone, and may be close to launching it, according to recently-surfaced information. A filing for the SM-W750V shows it as being approved by the Bluetooth SIG, with an accompanying User Agent profile suggesting it to be a device with a 1920x1080-resolution, 5-inch display.

Details picked up by Sammy Today from the UA profile note that the device uses Internet Explorer as the browser, with a number of other features pointing to it running on LTE, and possibly offering Voice over LTE (VoLTE) capabilities. The Bluetooth SIG listing reveals it to be launching in North America, but offers no further information. Considering Samsung's earlier Windows Phone releases, it is likely to carry the ATIV branding, but a complete name is currently unknown.

While details about this Windows Phone device are light, it is possible more will leak before Mobile World Congress next month, though Samsung could also use the conference to launch the device away from its typically-separate Samsung Galaxy launch events.
