Ex-chief moving to head new un-named projects at Google

Google today promoted one of its early employees to be the new head of YouTube. Susan Wojcicki has been shuffled from vice president of advertising and commerce to helm the video serving service. Ex-head Salar Kamangar will be retained at Google, to work on projects at the search engine that are still in their infancy.

Wojcicki studied history and literature at Harvard University and graduated with honors in 1990. She also received her Master's in Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1993 and a Master's in Business Administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in 1998. Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin set up the initial Google efforts in Wojcicki's garage.

When asked by The Verge about the change, CEO Larry Page skirted the question and said that "Salar and the whole YouTube team have built something amazing. YouTube is a billion-person global community curating videos for every possibility. Anyone uploading their creative content can reach the whole world, and even make money. Like Salar, Susan has a healthy disregard for the impossible and is excited about improving YouTube in ways that people will love."
