Hulu signs with CBS for 2,600 new episodes of programming for Hulu Plus
Hulu has made a new deal with US broadcaster CBS, adding 2,600 new episodes to its subscription-based television and movie streaming service Hulu Plus. The library expansion includes classic television content such as The Brady Bunch, Melrose Place and Taxi, as well as more recent programming such as Everybody Loves Raymond. The added content brings Hulu Plus' CBS library to over 5,300 episodes.
This announcement follows the recent agreement made between CBS and Hulu Plus that provides Hulu with an exclusive subscription video-on-demand agreement for previous seasons of crime drama Elementary, and a separate deal to stream previous seasons of the police procedural Blue Bloods. Hulu Plus is available for subscription starting at $8 per month.
Most embedded YouTube videos now able to stream via Chromecast
Embedded YouTube videos can now be watched through Chromecast in a more direct and simplified manner, since Google has added support for sending most web clips to the Chromecast device regardless of the site they are on. To view an embedded video from YouTube, users can press the 'Cast' button on the YouTube app upon selecting a video, select one's Chromecast from the drop-down menu and wait for the video to play on the configured television. Multiple videos can be queued on a mobile device -- though live streams, private footage and desktop-only videos are still not playable on Chromecast.
