Rear-mounted buttons, Knock Code of LG G2 appear in G Pro 2

LG has revealed an upgraded version of last year's G Pro in South Korea, over a week before an expected reveal at Mobile World Congress. The LG G Pro 2 is fronted by a 5.9-inch Full HD IPS display with a 3.3mm bezel, giving it a screen-to-frame ratio of 77.2 percent, and just as rumored, it features the same rear-mounted buttons as the LG G2 first introduced.

Inside is a quad-core 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB of RAM and options for 16GB or 32GB of storage. Running on Android 4.4, it includes speakers providing 1W sound that is 30-percent louder than its predecessor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and LTE connectivity, a microSD card slot, and a 3,200mAh battery.

Though the rear camera in this release is a 13-megapixel version, accompanied by a flash-equipped 2.1-megapixel front camera, the rear sensor adds a combined hardware and software-based OIS+ with an increased sensor size, 120fps HD video recording, 4K video recording capabilities, and a 20-shot burst mode.

In terms of software features, a Dual Browser splits the screen into two windows for online multitasking, and a Mini View can shrink the display size to between 3.4 inches and 4.7 inches, making it easier to use with one hand. Knock Code, a feature ported from the LG G2, will let users turn on and unlock their phones by tapping the screen with one of 86,367 combinations.

LG has yet to reveal a price or availability outside of South Korea.
