Cut in price of smart watch by AT&T, Best Buy
The Samsung Galaxy Gear has received some cuts in price in the United States, with both Best Buy and AT&T discounting the smart watch. At the same time, more reports are claiming to confirm a successor to the wrist-based device will be revealed at Mobile World Congress later this month, alongside the Galaxy S5, and the Galaxy Tab 4.
AT&T has discounted the Galaxy Gear by $100 on purchases of the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Active, or Galaxy Mega, bringing it down to $199. The carrier is also allowing customers who already bought one of the specified devices to pick up a Galaxy Gear at the discounted price. There is no end date for the discount, as it is listed by AT&T as "while supplies last."
Best Buy's offer extends the discount further, pricing the device at $150 without any special purchases. While cheaper, the discount won't apply to all color options, with Android Central reporting both the mocha gray and jet back versions are priced at $250.
Samsung Galaxy Gear
A new report from ZDNet Korea claims the Galaxy Gear 2 will be launched at Mobile World Congress, following similar news from the New York Times, and also details a third device. Sources claim a fourth generation of the Galaxy Tab line will make an appearance at the Samsung booth, with 7-inch, 8-inch, and 10.1-inch models set to launch. All will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 64GB of storage, a 6,800mAh battery, and run on Android 4.4.
