HTC One follow-up spotted in render sporting protective cover

HTC has revealed the launch of the M8 could be taking place on March 25th, as it starts sending invitations to two events held simultaneously in New York and London. A new leak has also surfaced, suggesting the rumored replacement to the HTC One could end up being supplied to customers with an optional protective cover once it ships.

The HTC Twitter account asks for people to "save the date" on the 25th of March, a month after other manufacturers are expected to launch smartphones at Mobile World Congress. Invitations intended for the media have been unearthed by GforGames, showing the two launch cities and a launch time of 11am EST or 4pm GMT in their respective locations.

The @evleaks Twitter account posted the new render of the HTC M8, which also displays the same March date on its display. The shown casing, black in color, appears to be made of two materials attached together rather than one, possibly consisting of a harder plastic combined with a rubberized coating. The account also claims to confirm earlier rumors of the dual-camera system on the back of the smartphone.

Earlier rumors claim the HTC M8 will ship with a five-inch, 1080p-or-greater display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM.
