Lays claim to first use of 5TB for external drives

LaCie has announced the addition of 5TB HDD options for three of its Thunderbolt external drive lines. These include the 5big-, 2big-, and d2-Series products. In the case of the 5big, a five-bay model, that allows as much as 25TB of storage, at transfer speeds up to 785MBps.

The 2big can hold as much as 10TB across two bays, while the d2 is limited to a single disk. A 25TB 5big is $2,499; the maximum-capacity 2big is $899, and a 5TB d2 is $450. LaCie claims to be selling the industry's first 5TB external hard drives.

Thunderbolt-1 per website, says you can order a 25GB configuration but they only list a maximum of 4TB for spare drives. Haven't been able to find a selling 5TB drive. Found article saying Western Digital was releasing one in late 2013 but nothing on their website. The link to an "external hard drives" goes to a 500GB Buffalo drive.
