Nvidia improves Tegra Note 7 tablet with i500 LTE modem upgrade

updated 11:42 am EST, Fri February 21, 2014

LTE, 3G connectivity added to Nvidia-produced tablet

Nvidia has refreshed its Tegra Note 7 Android tablet, with new versions supporting the company's i500 LTE modem, and the availability being expanded to more areas of Europe, Brazil, and Ukraine in the coming months. The tablet, sold through regional partners rather than from Nvidia directly, will include two versions of LTE support for the US and Europe, with 3G connectivity still provided for variants in regions currently without LTE cellular networks.

The Nvidia blog states the software-defined radio is 40-percent the size of conventional modems used in conventional modems, and has four times the processing capability of its predecessor. The other specifications appear to be relatively similar to its predecessor, namely a quad-core Tegra 4 processor with a 72-core GPU, a 7-inch 1280x800 IPS display, 16GB of storage with microSD support, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a VGA-resolution front-facing version, and stylus support.
