Volvo announces new tablet-like centre console

Officially debuting at next week's Geneva Motor Show, Volvo has announced its latest "human machine interface" that incorporates a tablet-like centre console into the vehicle. Its screen is divided into tiles, featuring navigation, media and vehicle info, and a secondary features area that includes phone and climate controls. The new interface aims to reduce visual distraction, and prioritizes frequently-used controls so as to make them easy to reach. The new tablet interface will be available in Volvo's XC90 crossover SUVs this upcoming fall.
