Activision to publish mobile phone and tablet version of skateboarding game

In an interview with Bloomberg last week, skateboarder and entrepreneur Tony Hawk revealed that the next iteration of his skateboarding game franchise would be released on mobile platforms. This marks the first time the series has headed directly to mobile devices, and the first game to be released since Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD in 2012.

The game has yet to have a title or platform attached to it, but is being worked on for "mobile devices this year" according to Hawk. When questioned about future game development, Hawk said that he was "excited" about having the game released in the mobile space, given "the amount of time that people are spending on their phones and tablets playing games."

Hawk later appeared on Larry King Now to confirm that the game would be coming this year. It will utilize a swipe control system for touchscreens that will allow players to control a skateboarder. Gaming site IGN confirms that the title will be published by Activision, which had published previous games in the series. No firm release date has been given, but Activision states that "more info is coming soon."
