Verizon exclusivity, price of new HTC One rumored
A second leaking video has appeared on YouTube, claiming to show the updated HTC One, the day before it is set to launch. The 14-minute video of the codenamed-M8 device surfaces at the same time as rumors of its availability, including a period of exclusivity on Verizon in the United States, exclusive color options, and a possible price tag for the smartphone.
The new video from German YouTube user Hans Meyer goes into extensive detail about the new HTC One, similar to the earlier video leak. The dual camera sensors on the rear are demonstrated with the post-shot refocusing feature, and a general tour of the new Sense interface. A power-saving mode is also briefly shown, with the display dimming and giving a simplified interface that reduces power consumption, but it does not appear to have the black and white mode the Galaxy S5 offers at its most extreme.
HTC Source claims the new HTC One will be shipping in the US on Verizon for a few weeks as an exclusive, before being available on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. The @evleaks Twitter account claims it will go on sale for $600 off-contract, with a gold-colored version being sold only through Best Buy.
Launching in events in London and New York tomorrow, the new HTC One is believed to ship with a 5-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, a pair of cameras on the rear, microSD card expansion, and a light-up front cover providing updates on the weather and time.
