Samsung ATIV SE rumored to launch in April without Windows Phone 8.1

updated 02:36 pm EDT, Tue April 1, 2014

Software update after Samsung ATIV SE launch will reportedly occur

Samsung's next Windows Phone device will not come with Windows Phone 8.1 pre-installed, according to leaked specifications. The Verizon-bound ATIV SE, pictured in another leak last month with a Windows Phone 8.1 interface, will apparently launch with Windows Phone 8, instead receiving the newer mobile operating system as an update after its launch.

Details received by The Verge claim it will be similar to the Galaxy S4, in having a five-inch 1080p display, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a brushed metal effect on the casing. Inside will be a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage, and LTE connectivity.

It is believed Verizon will be launching the ATIV SE sometime in April, though a more exact date and pricing information remain unknown.
