Black Eyed Peas member shows smart watch during interview
Black Eyed Peas member Will.i.am is producing a smart watch, the musician has revealed. Appearing on a chat show in the United Kingdom, he gave a demonstration of the device's capabilities, claiming that unlike the Samsung Gear range and other smart watches, his version is able to make phone calls without needing to be connected to a smartphone.
"I started the company myself. I funded it, used my own money to develop it," Will.i.am said in the interview with Alan Carr. He demonstrated its music-playing and dialing capabilities, claiming it can access social networks like Twitter and Facebook, though Engadget notes the audio that supposedly comes from the device appeared to be "too loud to be genuine."
Will.i.am posted on Twitter that he hopes to launch the smart watch in July, and will be revealing more details about the device soon.

This is not the first time the singer and producer has launched a device. In 2012, he launched the I.am+ case accessory range for the iPhone 4, 4S, and 5 that offered a flash module and interchangeable lenses, and on more expensive models it included a higher-resolution camera sensor and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
